Environmental Compliance Emissions Reporting Requirements
Facilities have different environmental compliance requirements based on their type of emissions sources. Facilities that fall under 40 CFR Part 75 must submit emissions reports four times a year – that is, one report per calendar quarter. Meanwhile, other facilities that comply with 40 CFR Part 60 and 40 CFR Part 63 must submit reports on a quarterly, semiannual, and annual basis.

Keeping Up With Quarterly Reporting Deadlines for Air Compliance
It is essential to submit your Electronic Data Reports (EDR) file using The Clean Air Markets Division’s (CAMD) ECMPS Client Tool by the deadline to fulfill your environmental regulatory compliance requirements. ECMPS is the EPA’s air emissions reporting software. Keeping up with deadlines is challenging but very important – not filing your EDR file can be interpreted as not intending to comply. Remember that the actual deadline for the end of the quarter may not be the deadline to submit an EDR.
The next deadline, according to the ECMPS News website for sources required to report 2022 Q1 emissions data under the Acid Rain Program (ARP), the Cross-State Air Pollution Rule (CSAPR), the NOx SIP Call (SIPNOX), the Texas SO2 Trading Program (TXSO2), the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI), and the Mercury and Air Toxic Standards (MATS) rule is “until the end of the day on Monday, May 2, 2022, to submit their emissions data to the EPA using the ECMPS Client Tool”.
CAMD is in the process of replacing the outdated ECMPS Client tool – now over a decade old – with a new, web-based program: ECMPS 2.0. Beta testing began in December of 2021 and the plan is for every facility that uses ECMPS to migrate to ECMPS 2.0 by January 1, 2023. Read more about ECMPS 2.0 key deadlines and important information about upcoming changes in this blog post. and be sure to check the ECMPS re-engineering website.
